Do I Really Need a Blog?

One of the most common questions I hear when working with clients is, “Do I really need a blog?” And the quick answer is, “Yes!”
Whether you’re building a new website or updating an existing one, a blog is a powerful addition. It helps you share helpful information with your audience, expands your site, and supports your overall search engine optimization strategy.
As a business owner or organization leader, you might also ask yourself, “Do I have time to write a blog? Should I use AI? Should I hire someone? How often should I publish for it to actually make a difference?”
These are all great questions! The good news is that your blog can be whatever you need it to be. It can answer common questions (just like this post!), offer guidance, share tips and resources, and highlight how your services support your community.
A blog also helps build trust. It positions you as an expert in your field, gives people a better sense of who you are, and helps them understand your values and the work you do.
Here are a few other common questions I hear:
“How often do I have to publish a blog?”
Blogs can be published weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, or even just twice a year; whatever works best for you. There’s no right or wrong answer. That said, the more content you publish, the more helpful it is for your audience and your SEO efforts. Once you choose a schedule that feels sustainable, consistency becomes the most important piece.
“Can a blog help with SEO?”
Absolutely! From an SEO standpoint, blogs are incredibly valuable. Every post gives search engines more context about who you are, what you offer, and the topics you’re knowledgeable about. When people in your community search for answers, your blog increases the likelihood that your site will appear and helps them find the information they’re looking for.
